On Saturday, April 25th at Concord HS, the Bremen HS Concert Band will be performing a set of piece at the annual ISSMA HS Organizational Festival. Three judges will be adjudicating, and the performances are free and open to the public.
The Bremen Band will be performing at 2:00 pm, and we have entered at the highest difficulty level (Group I). If you are planning to attend, come early-- they will not allow parents to enter the hall once the performance has begun. Come and cheer us on!
Afterwards, in an extra challenge, the Bremen Band will be escorted to a private room where they will be asked to look at a piece for 10 minutes without playing, then perform the piece as best they can before a judge!

On March 30th, as is the usual custom, we have been invited to perform before the Tri-Cappa Awards program in the Bowen Auditorium in Bremen.
This is a quick performance, and the schedule will go as follows:

7:30 pm Program begins, tear down.
8:00 pm Dismissed.
We will perform a variety of pieces we have learned all year, and perhaps a new one!
Students should wear their standard concert wear for the concert.
Last Saturday at the ISSMA MS Festival at Penn High School, the Bremen Bremen MS Band performed three pieces at a festival with approximately 30 other area MS bands. Our performance went very well, with the students receiving a Silver award and missing the Gold by the narrowest possible margin. The students performed on a beautiful stage in front of many supportive parents-- thank you for coming!
I also want to make a note of the incredible good behavior of the students in the group. They behaved like perfect ladies and gentlemen, helping each other with all the equipment, moving through the halls in silence with purpose, and listening attentively to direction. They were so well behaved, we received multiple unsolicited compliments from monitors and officials at the event concerning our particular group's behavior and decorum.
I am so proud to be a Bremen Lion!

On Saturday, February 28th, 7 students qualified to perform at the State Solo/Ensemble Festival in Indianapolis. This special honor is granted to students who perform at the very highest levels at the district festival last month.
Students should arrive at least one hour before their scheduled performance and dressed in formal attire. If a student needs a ride to the event, please inform Mr. Sutton.

On Monday, February 23, all bands will be performing in our annual Winter Concert at Bowen Auditorium in the Bremen High School.
Jazz Band / High School Band: 6:30 pm.
6th Grade Band / 7th/8th Grade Band: 7:45 pm.
Each group will be performing 3-4 pieces they have been working on during the previous several weeks, and the concerts will be featuring a few highlights from our Solo/Ensemble Festival!
The music will be varied-- you will get to hear anything from Japanese folk songs to musical depictions of electricity to Bach organ preludes. There is something for everyone!

Spectators and parents, if you wish to see our band play some great tunes, we will be performing at 5:25 pm Eastern time in the LaPorte High School cafeteria. The students will be performing both for the public and three judges who will be giving the students a rating based on the quality of their playing.

Jazz Band students should wear black dress pants and a white button-up dress shirt or blouse, with black dress shoes. Students should bring a small amount of money for dinner.
Next Friday February 20th is a big night for the Bremen Band program! We have good food and great performances put on by more than 70 students at the Boys Basketball game.
First, the food. The Bremen Band will be hosting a Haystack Dinner (think large taco salad) on Friday night. Pre-sale tickets cost just $5 (from any band student or the band office until Wednesday), or you can get them at the door for $7, and will include a plate of delicious food. Desserts will be provided for any extra donation. You can eat the food there, or take it home, and food will be served from 4-8 pm.
Second, the entertainment. The MS Band will be teaming up with the HS Pep Band to provide great music for the Varsity Boys Basketball game! We will be playing the national anthem, school song, and a great variety of current and past pep band classics while the boys take on Northwood in a great game.
So bring your family, grab some dinner, and enjoy the game with us!

Band families-- here's the details you need to know to make both of these events a success.
Looking for an excuse not to cook? On Friday, February 20th in the Bremen High School Cafeteria, the Bremen Band Boosters will be serving a Haystack Dinner. A Haystack is similar to a delicious taco salad-- when you pour nacho cheese on it, it looks like a Haystack, right?
We will be serving the dinner between 4 and 8 pm, which is perfect for everyone heading to the boys basketball game that evening. What's more, this is the MS Pep Band night, where the MS band students will be joining our HS band students to perform for the game. Parents, bring your whole family to eat, and then watch your children perform some fun music during an exciting game!
How much? Tickets are $5 pre-sale, and $7 at the door for a plate of food and water/lemonade to drink. In addition, for any additional free-will donation, you will be able to pick from a large table of desserts. Eat In and Take Out will be available.

Valentine's Day is Coming. Parents-- are you looking to plan a special evening out this Valentine's Day? We would love to help! Drop off your children next to the Bremen HS Auditorium from 6:00-9:30 pm, and we will entertain them while you get a well deserved night off. We will feed them, play games, and watch a movie while you do... well whatever you want to do!
The cost is only $20 for the first child, and $10 each for any additional children. Please do not drop off children who are not potty trained-- we don't have the facilities for that, unfortunately.
All money raised will go to support our band program. Take advantage, and for a good cause!
