On Saturday, February 28th, 7 students qualified to perform at the State Solo/Ensemble Festival in Indianapolis. This special honor is granted to students who perform at the very highest levels at the district festival last month.
Students should arrive at least one hour before their scheduled performance and dressed in formal attire. If a student needs a ride to the event, please inform Mr. Sutton.

On Monday, February 23, all bands will be performing in our annual Winter Concert at Bowen Auditorium in the Bremen High School.
Jazz Band / High School Band: 6:30 pm.
6th Grade Band / 7th/8th Grade Band: 7:45 pm.
Each group will be performing 3-4 pieces they have been working on during the previous several weeks, and the concerts will be featuring a few highlights from our Solo/Ensemble Festival!
The music will be varied-- you will get to hear anything from Japanese folk songs to musical depictions of electricity to Bach organ preludes. There is something for everyone!

We have our schedule for the Jazz Band Festival performance on Saturday, March 7th. Spectators and parents, if you wish to see our band play some great tunes, we will be performing at 5:25 pm Eastern time in the LaPorte High School cafeteria. The students will be performing both for the public and three judges who will be giving the students a rating based on the quality of their playing.

Jazz Band students should wear black dress pants and a white button-up dress shirt or blouse, with black dress shoes. Students should bring a small amount of money for dinner.
Next Friday February 20th is a big night for the Bremen Band program! We have good food and great performances put on by more than 70 students at the Boys Basketball game.
First, the food. The Bremen Band will be hosting a Haystack Dinner (think large taco salad) on Friday night. Pre-sale tickets cost just $5 (from any band student or the band office until Wednesday), or you can get them at the door for $7, and will include a plate of delicious food. Desserts will be provided for any extra donation. You can eat the food there, or take it home, and food will be served from 4-8 pm.
Second, the entertainment. The MS Band will be teaming up with the HS Pep Band to provide great music for the Varsity Boys Basketball game! We will be playing the national anthem, school song, and a great variety of current and past pep band classics while the boys take on Northwood in a great game.

Band families-- here's the details you need to know to make both of these events a success.
Looking for an excuse not to cook? On Friday, February 20th in the Bremen High School Cafeteria, the Bremen Band Boosters will be serving a Haystack Dinner. A Haystack is similar to a delicious taco salad-- when you pour nacho cheese on it, it looks like a Haystack, right?
We will be serving the dinner between 4 and 8 pm, which is perfect for everyone heading to the boys basketball game that evening. What's more, this is the MS Pep Band night, where the MS band students will be joining our HS band students to perform for the game. Parents, bring your whole family to eat, and then watch your children perform some fun music during an exciting game!
How much? Tickets are $5 pre-sale, and $7 at the door for a plate of food and water/lemonade to drink. In addition, for any additional free-will donation, you will be able to pick from a large table of desserts. Eat In and Take Out will be available.

Valentine's Day is Coming. Parents-- are you looking to plan a special evening out this Valentine's Day? We would love to help! Drop off your children next to the Bremen HS Auditorium from 6:00-9:30 pm, and we will entertain them while you get a well deserved night off. We will feed them, play games, and watch a movie while you do... well whatever you want to do!
The cost is only $20 for the first child, and $10 each for any additional children. Please do not drop off children who are not potty trained-- we don't have the facilities for that, unfortunately.
All money raised will go to support our band program. Take advantage, and for a good cause!
On Saturday, January 31st, 94 students from the Bremen Band program performed at the annual ISSMA Solo/Ensemble Festival in Kokomo. Performances ranged from solos to groups of 5-6 students, and many students performed more than once. The students had been preparing for this day since the beginning of December, and some of them before that. Students performed for the public and a judge, who scored their performance in 9 categories and gave them awards based on the result.
Those results? Fantastic! With a total of 58 performances, the Emerald Alliance earned 41 Gold ratings, 15 Silver ratings, and 2 Bronze ratings.
In addition, the following students entered at the most advanced level, and through their Gold level performances earned a trip to the State level Festival on February 28.

Due to extreme cold, the band booster meeting scheduled for tonight has been rescheduled for Thursday, January 15th at 7 pm in the band room.

It is coming! The Band and the Swing Choir will be performing at a large festival in Chicago on May 23.
The great thing is, the School Board has approved our proposal to make this into a mini-musical adventure. We will leave Bremen on Friday, May 22, and return on Monday, May 25. While we cannot guarantee it until they are officially booked, this mini-trip could include the performance, a trip to Six Flags Great America, a performance by Blue Man Group, a performance by Comedy Sportz, trips to Navy Pier, Millennium Park, and dinner at the Rainforest Cafe and Ed Debevics. As you can see, this will be an amazing experience for our students!
While final costs will depend on the number of students going, we anticipate a cost per student between $300 and $350 per student. This cost would include lodging at a nice hotel for 3 nights, most meals, tickets to every event, and their performance at the festival. Payments of approximately $100 will be due at the end of January, February, and March
Students who cannot afford the entire trip will be able to attend only the performance on Saturday for approximately $50.
