Select Bremen Students Qualify for All-State Honor Band

Three students received notice that they qualified for the prestigious Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) All-State and All-State Honor bands on Janury 26. These bands are auditioned groups of outstanding musicians that meet to rehearse and perform a concert together at Purdue University on March 10.

Auditions consist of performing a prepared set of difficult exercises provided to the students, followed by sight reading an exercise with no previous preparation.

This year, no student made it into the All-State Band, the lower of the two bands.

Jeremy Prawat (10th grade percussion), Brandon Schmucker (11th grade percussion), and Joshua Staiger (12th grade clarinet) all qualified for the All-State Honor Band. This is the highest possible honor band in the ISSMA organization. This is only the second year in the previous 13 that students from Bremen have made it into this band.

Joshua Staiger made it into this band for the second consecutive year, and is one of only 17 clarinet students chosen state-wide for this honor.

Jeremy, who made it into the All-State band last year, has moved up and qualified for the All-State Honor Band this year. This is Brandon's first qualification for either band. Together, Jeremy and Brandon are 2 of just 8 students chosen state-wide for this honor.

This is an incredible achievement for them, and for the Bremen Band program as a whole.

Congratulations to all three students on their tremendous accomplishment!
