Winter Concert a Huge Success
The Band Program had a concert last evening, and it went very well!
Here's what our principal, Mr. Bruce Jennings, had to say about it:
The Winter Band Concert tonight was, again, very impressive -- in both quantity and quality!
With 53 students in the 6th Grade Band, and 54 more students in the combined 7th & 8th Grade Band, the enthusiasm for reading and performing music appears to be contagious -- producing a positive pandemic of poised performers posed to please the public into perpetuity.
As always, the 18-member BHS Jazz Band (that practices 3 days each week, all 36 weeks, at 7:00 a.m.) was awesome; but I was really impressed with the 48-member BHS Concert Band's piece entitled “Epinicion” – a song of victory.
I also enjoyed…the tribute to Grammy Award Winning Salvador Perez (a 2014 BHS graduate), the fact that the auditorium was packed, and the featured performances from some of our qualifiers in the upcoming State Solo & Ensemble Contest in Indianapolis.
110 students from the Bremen Band Program participated in the 2019 ISSMA District Solo & Ensemble Festival in Plymouth. Nine individual soloists and three ensemble groups qualified to compete at the State Instrumental Solo & Ensemble Contest at North Central High School on Sat., Feb. 23rd. The BHS students advancing to Indianapolis are:
Elijah Clark (10) – clarinet
Julianne Lawmaster (11) – flute
Anna Leeper (12) – trumpet
Chandler Miller (11) – alto sax
Freeman Patterson (12) – clarinet
Jeremy Prawat (10) – snare drum (perfect score), marimba, and timpani
Isabel Reynoso (10) – flute
Joshua Staiger (12) – clarinet (perfect score)
Joshua Szpakowski (11) – tuba (perfect score)
Percussion group – Daniel Alvarado (09), Tommy Hilgendorf (09), Ashley Jeffirs (12), Jeremy Prawat (10), Aidan Russell (09), Brandon Schmucker (11), and Marisol Torres (09)
Brass Trio – Ashton Kucera (11), Job Long (12), and Joshua Szpakowski (11)
Saxophone Trio – Chandler Miller (11), Freeman Patterson (12), and Taylor Perez (11)
I'm so proud of the Town Musicians of Bremen!
Thank you, Mr. Jennings!
